Celebrate The Small Things

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for Celebrate The Small Things. Thanks to our host Lexa Cain and her co-hosts L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge and Katie @ TheCyborgMom for continuing what VikLit started!

Things have been pretty bleak and gloomy in general. Maybe it’s because of the dreary weather, maybe it’s just the overwhelming pressure I’m feeling, both at work and in my personal life. Either way, now is a good time to take stock of the small things that make it all OK.

  1. I survived a pretty daunting business meeting where it’s just me against five people. It almost felt like a panel job interview all over again! So yeah, I’m feeling a bit good about being able to hold my own and working out compromises that are acceptable to both sides.

  2. Found the perfect outfit just when I was about to give up.

  3. Edited a chapter in my current WIP. It’s not much, but it’s progress, at least!

  4. Silly, entertaining movies like Kingsman, The Secret Service. If you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend it, although the violence might be a bit too much at times. And if you have seen it, well who can forget how much fun was it to watch that fight scene while Give It Up by KC & The Sunshine Band played in the background?

What are you celebrating this week? Have you seen Kingsman? What did you think of it?

Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly blog hop, wherein we post our celebrations each Friday, no matter how big or small. You can sign up here.

  1. Good on holding you own against the 5. I probably would have turned to jelly. Have a good weekend.

  2. All forms of editing is progress, even chapter by chapter. Hell, I’ve deleted chapters and called it editing. ๐Ÿ˜€

The Kingsman looks fun. I watched The Other Woman with my 13-year-old daughter this week, and although there were 1 or 2 scenes she had to look away, it was mostly a chick flick about girls being silly and doing girly things while trying to get even with a misogynistic pig. It was so much fun to watch with my daughter. She loved it. Totally recommend it if you’re looking for a fun sisterhood-bonding type flick.

  3. I really need to do this more. I think remembering the small things that went so well could really help perk up the end of the week ๐Ÿ˜€

    Glad your meeting went well!

  4. I haven’t seen Kingsman. I’ll have to look it up. Congrats on the positive results in your meeting! Good luck with your WIP, and I hope things brighten up for you soon!

  5. Congrats on holding your own and making compromises that work. Yay for new outfits that are perfect and for editing a whole chapter! I’ve heard of Kingsmen, and I’m dying to see it! I really hope that your life settles down and you feel less pressured. No one deserves that kind of stress.

    • Thanks Lexa! I had to get away from it all for a while and go on a short trip. There’s nothing like leaving all worries behind for a few days. Of course, now that I’m back, it’s only a matter of time before the cycle starts all over again. ๐Ÿ˜œ

  6. Five against one. Those are tough odds. Glad the meeting went well and reached a compromise., but those interactions can be stressful. Glad it’s behind you and that’s a great accomplishment to lead off your celebration.
I saw Kingsmen a few weeks ago and thought it was very entertaining. Totally agree about the violence, but thought the acting and writing was clever. I would definitely recommend the movie =D
Hope the bleak and gloomy passes soon. (both weather and pressure wise)

    • Thanks Elsie! Yes, I always get anxious when meetings like that come up. Just imagining all the ways things can go wrong is enough to send my stress levels up. Definitely agree that the way they handled some of the things in Kingsman were clever. The fireworks scene was totally unexpected and made me lol.

  7. Writing anything during a busy week is something to celebrate. Congrats on the chapter AND the perfect outfit.

    • Thanks Lee! I generally don’t like shopping. All that time just to find the “right outfit,” but at least it’s better than spending all that time and not finding the right outfit lol.
