Celebrate The Small Things is a weekly blog hop, wherein we post our celebrations each Friday, no matter how big or small. You can sign up here. Thanks to our host Lexa Cain and her co-hosts L.G. Keltner @ Writing Off The Edge and Katie @ TheCyborgMom for continuing what VikLit started!

Some days, all you have to do is look up to find something unexpectedly wonderful. Saw this on my way home today.

June 19 2015-moon, venus, jupiter

The photo does not do the actual sight justice (sorry!) but if you care to look up at the western sky in the early hours after sunset, you’ll see this wonderful phenomena of the crescent moon just below Jupiter and Venus. More information here, and according to this, Jupiter and Venus are converging on June 30, so that should be something to watch out for as well!

I’m also celebrating getting 10 days off next month to visit family. My brother will be visiting as well, so it’ll be the first time in years everyone will be together.

Revisions have been going slow, but it’s steady progress, and I’m still confident I can reach my target for June, as long as my muse and MS prove cooperative.

What are you celebrating this week? Are you fascinated by the night sky and do you intend to watch out for the June 30 convergence? Any plans for the summer holidays?

  1. I’ll have to mark the 30th on my calendar. My son loves all things planet, so he won’t want to miss. Good luck with revisions – they can take a while but the end result is always well worth it.

  2. Those teeny little dots are Jupiter and Venus? Wow! I didn’t even realize you could see them with the naked eye. Yay for your ten days off and for visiting family. I bet you’ll have a great time! 🙂

  3. That’s so neat! I will have to tell my son about that, he loves that space stuff.

  4. I’ll definitely be looking up on the 30th. The night sky fascinates me, it just so beautiful. The moon has been awesome here for the past couple of nights.

  5. oh, i just love space and all that it hold!
Hope you have a lovely time with your family 🙂

  6. Lovely to meet via the Celebrate blog hop and am so pleased to find someone else interested in the night sky! Over here in Britain we’ve all been very excited by the appearance of the aurora borealis in certain places – unfortunately I didn’t spot it where I lived but the photos have been breathtakingly beautiful from other areas. 7. The night sky always seems magical to me, whether cloudy or clear, star-studded, or just a sliver moon and one star. It always amazes me.

  8. Looking up is always awe-inspiring! Here’s to those ten days of being free to do whatever you like.

  9. Revisions can be daunting but sounds like you’re plugging away nicely. The sky is amazing, and we forget so often to look at it.
